Activity for May 13th-14th, 2020:

Line Riders is a game where you can design tracks and obstacles for your line rider! But…you can also create amazing musical art! Watch the video for “Les Toreadors” from Carmen, by classical composer Georges Bizet. The Line Riders and their track have been synced up to the song. As you watch, make note on how the music is used and represented in the video!

After watching, answer the reflection questions. Then, try your hand at designing your own Line Rider Tracks! Maybe you can even create your own track to music!

Activity for May 6th-7th, 2020:

Music is something that everyone can enjoy in their own way! Some people play instruments, some people sing, some people dance, some people like to just listen, and some like to do all of it! Regardless of what you do, music is for everyone!

Conduct a musical interview with at least 1 member of your family this week about how they enjoy music. You can record their answers to the questions on a separate piece of paper. If you think of more questions to ask them about music, I would love to know what you came up with!

Basics of Ukulele Videos 1+2

Basics of Ukulele Video #1:

Hello! Here is a link to my first video on the basics of playing the ukulele. I wish we could be learning this in person, but I’ve done my best to recreate our lessons digitally. Please note: Due to the nature of cameras, what you see me doing will be the opposite from what you are doing! Follow the directions I say when holding the ukulele and you will be good to go!

Basics of Ukulele Video #2:

Here is the link to the second ukulele video, where we learn how to finger our first chord, C! Please note: Due to the nature of cameras, what you see me doing will be the opposite from what you are doing! Follow the directions I say when holding the ukulele and you will be good to go! I have also included a picture showing where to put your sticker on your ukulele stick or ukulele in more detail.

More Chrome Music Lab Exploration! This week, explore the Song Maker feature of Chrome Music Lab. You can create a song with a melody and a beat. To add a drum beat, click on the first two rows of dots. You can get rid of something by just clicking it again! To add a melody, click on the squares to find different notes. You can even have multiple notes playing at a time! You can change instruments around on the bottom as well as change the speed.

Here is a song that I created!

Feel free to send me songs that you make by hitting the “Save” check mark and then copy and pasting a link into an email! I hope you have fun 🙂

For Recorder:

Pick one activity from the Recorder Enrichment Activities  to do this week. If you would like to earn virtual recorder belts, take a video of you playing one of the belt songs from the Recorder Karate Textbook . The orange belt song is on page 15. Remember, you can submit your best video. I will watch them and then give you some feedback and a certificate for each belt you pass!
