Activity for April 8th-9th, 2020

Activity for April 8-9th, 2020:

This week, use the song creator from Classics for Kids to create a song! If you want to play around with it before you make your final song, I will always encourage that! After you’ve made your final song, give it a listen and then answer the questions below. You can also share your song with me via email!

Reflection Questions:

Write these on a scrap piece of paper!

  1. How would you describe your song? Happy, sad, long, short, fast, slow…pick 3 descriptive words for your song.
  2. If you could give your song a title, what would it be?
  3. What instrument would you want to play your song?
  4. If you could change anything about your song, what would it be?

Activity for April 7th and 8th, 2020:

Elements of music are all around us! This week, explore elements of music around your house or neighborhood with a Tempo and Dynamic Detective Activity!

Tempo is the speed of the music, how fast or slow it is. Dynamics are how we describe how loud or soft music is. See if you can fill out the Detective Page with things around your home or neighborhood that match the different tempos and dynamics!

Stay tuned after spring break for some ukulele videos featuring the award winning actress, Ms. Jones!

Create your own practice ukulele stick at home following this simple tutorial! What can the ukulele stick do? Well, it can help you practice where to place your fingers to create chords so that when you get a real ukulele you’re one step ahead of the game! I will be creating a new section under 4th grade music next week to show those that make their ukulele stick the first chord we will learn, and show you the strumming motion!
